‘Sagar Samrat’ is a self-propelled jack-up drilling rig that extracts oil from depths above 1400 meters. The ‘Sagar Samrat’ drilling platform was established here in 1975. This type of vessel may drill for oil off the coast of Mumbai. An estimated 80 crore tons of oil are found here. Oil is transported by pipeline from the High to the Trombay refinery.
