Solution

In 1947, India became independent, and the Indian people were to rule the country through their elected representatives. However, the Partition was carried out in great haste, which led to serious issues, particularly the communal problem. Lakhs of refugees were forced to leave their ancestral homes and enter the two new states, India and Pakistan. Following India's independence and the creation of Pakistan, a large-scale population migration occurred between the two countries. This came to be known as the refugee problem.
