Fieldwork is frequently carried out by selecting a suitable number of samples instead of doing a complete survey, which can be exhausting and take a lot of time. For instance, if a village has 1,000 fields, we might examine around 100 of them in detail. This approach is referred to as a sample survey of land use, with a 10 per cent sampling rate.
