Hypertension is the term used for high blood pressure. It is known as a "silent killer".
High blood pressure results from the tightening (constriction) of very small arteries called arterioles. Arterioles regulate the blood flow through our body. As these arterioles constrict, the heart has to work harder to pump the blood through the smaller space. Due to this, the pressure inside the vessels grows. Very high blood pressure can lead to the rupture of the artery and internal bleeding.
