Solution
A dislocation (luxation) is when the ends of two bones that form a joint are forced out of their normal positions, a partial dislocation is called a subluxation. Dislocations most often follow trauma (falls, collisions, etc.), commonly affect large joints (shoulder in adults, elbow in children; thumbs/fingers can also be involved), and cause sudden severe pain, visible deformity, swelling, instability and difficulty moving the joint.
