Solution
The earth is surrounded by coverage of air which extends to height of several hundred kilometres. This is called the atmosphere. Near the surface of the earth, the air is dense, as we go up higher, the atmosphere gets more and more rare field. About half the air composing the atmosphere is found within 5 kilometres of the earth's surface.
