Households play a key role in an economy by performing two main functions: first, they own different factors of production (such as land, labour and capital), supply these services to firms, and earn factor income; second, they purchase various consumer goods and services for their needs. Households are the biggest source of demand for goods and services, encouraging producers to diversify their products and stimulating growth in both goods and service sectors.
