Molecules of elements are made up of atoms of the same element. They are of two types:

• Diatomic molecules – consist of 2 atoms (e.g., H₂, O₂, N₂, Cl₂)
• Polyatomic molecules – consist of more than 2 atoms (e.g., O₃, P₄, S₈)
