• First check that the scene is safe and call for emergency medical help when needed.
• Follow the priorities: check and maintain airway, breathing and circulation (ABC); control severe bleeding; immobilise suspected broken bones; cool burns; attend to eye, nose or ear injuries; cover wounds with a clean dressing; and arrange transfer to a health centre.
• Give only care you are trained to provide, and do not put yourself or the casualty at further risk.
