(i) Organisms prepare their own food using simple inorganic materials like water and CO2. Organisms cannot prepare their own food and depend on others for nutrition.
(ii) Food is synthesized from simple inorganic raw materials like CO2 and water. Food is obtained, directly or indirectly, from autotrophs and broken down by enzymes.
(iii) Chlorophyll is required. Chlorophyll is not required.
(iv) Food is generally prepared during day time. Food can be obtained at all times.
(v) All green plants and some bacteria. All animals and fungi.
