Solution

A formula is a symbolic expression or rule used to calculate a value from one or more other quantities: in mathematics and physics it appears as an equation relating variables (for example A = πr2 or F = ma), in chemistry it identifies which elements and how many atoms are in a molecule (for example H2O), and in spreadsheets it is an instruction entered into a cell (always beginning with =) that can include cell references, arithmetic and built‑in functions so the cell displays a computed result that updates automatically when inputs change, enabling “what‑if” analysis; common spreadsheet functions include SUM, AVERAGE and COUNT.
