For the following reasons, voluntary retirement is always preferable to forced retirement:

1. Whereas the company takes the lead in mandatory retirement, the employee makes the decision in voluntary retirement.
2. Employees become resentful when forced to retire. Voluntary retirement does not breed this kind of animosity.
3. When an employee retires voluntarily, they receive a large financial benefit. Thus, it is known as the “golden handshake.”
4. Both the employer and the employee benefit from voluntary retirement. However, mandatory retirement is a win-lose scenario for both the business and the individual.
