I visited the Tehsil office with my teacher to understand how voting is conducted and how an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) works. We were explained the voting process step by step.

First, a voter’s name and identity are checked at the polling station. After verification, the voter is allowed to enter the voting compartment. The polling officer activates the EVM for the voter.

The EVM has the names and symbols of the candidates. The voter presses the button next to the candidate of their choice. A light glows, and a beep sound confirms that the vote has been recorded. The voter’s choice remains secret.

We also learned that the EVM helps in conducting elections quickly and accurately. After voting is completed, the votes are securely stored in the machine and are later counted according to the rules of the Election Commission.

The visit helped me understand the importance of voting, the secrecy of the ballot, and responsible participation in a democracy.
