I visited a textile industry in my area and collected information about how cloth is made. The main raw materials used are cotton, wool, silk and synthetic fibres. First, the fibres are cleaned and made into yarn or thread. The yarn is then woven or knitted using machines to make cloth. The cloth is dyed in different colours, dried and finished to make it smooth and attractive. Finally, it is cut and packed for making clothes and other textile products.

The textile industry provides employment to many people and produces clothes, bedsheets, curtains, towels and other useful items. I learned that many different processes are involved in converting fibres into finished cloth.
