Solution
I visited a jeweller’s shop and learned that ornaments are made through several steps. First, gold, silver or other metals are heated at a high temperature until they melt. The melted metal is then poured into suitable moulds or shaped by skilled workers according to the required design. After the metal cools and becomes solid, it is removed from the mould and carefully cut, shaped and joined to form the ornament. Precious stones such as diamonds, rubies and emeralds may be fixed into the ornament. Finally, the ornament is polished and cleaned to give it a smooth and shiny appearance. Thus, heating and cooling help in changing the shape and form of metals to make beautiful ornaments.
