`(x^2 + 2x)/(2x + 4) = (y^2 + 3y)/(3y + 9)`
Taking out common factors from the numerators and denominators,
⇒ `(x(x + 2))/(2(x + 2)) = (y(y + 3))/(3(y + 3))`
⇒ `x/2 = y/3`
Applying the property of alternendo to our simplified equation,
⇒ `x/y = 2/3`
The ratio x : y = 2 : 3
