Solution
Let the number be x.
Then, twice of this number = 2x and half of this number = `1/2x`.
According to the question,
`2x + 1/2x = 24`
Multiplying both sides by 2, we get
4x + x = 48
⇒ 5x = 48
`(5x)/5 = 48/5` ...[Dividing both sides by 5]
⇒ x = 9.6
Hence, the required number is 9.6
