This is all about governments, officials, leaders, terrorists... but what about the people in Jammu and Kashmir? In a democracy we must go by what they want, shouldn't we?

Solution
Yes. The wishes and rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir must be central to any democratic response. But the people are not a single, uniform group: Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh have diverse communities and different political aspirations. Their views should be heard through peaceful dialogue, genuine democratic participation and fair representation, while protecting everyone’s rights and working within a constitutional framework.
