Promotion refers to all those activities which a business enterprise performs to inform, persuade and motivate people to buy its product or service. Promotion mix means the combination of various promotional tools used by an enterprise to achieve its marketing objectives. The various elements of the promotion mix are as follows:

  1. Advertising is used to inform the public about the manufacturer, quality and uses of his products/services. 
  2. Personal selling is used to approach the prospective buyer and convince him/her to buy the product. 
  3. Sales promotion, which refers to different types of incentives to promote the sale of the product, such as discounts, free gifts, etc. 
  4. Publicity which implies mention of a company/product in the media without direct payment by the company.
