The people of Kheda were unable to pay the high amount of taxes imposed by the Britishers due to crop failure and a plague epidemic. Gandhiji was the leader of the struggle, accompanied by many other devotees. All the communities of Kheda came together to fight against the increase in taxes imposed by the Britishers.
