Subject: Urgent appeal regarding the dilapidated drainage system in Chatur Colony
Respected Sir/Madam,
I am writing this letter on behalf of the residents of our colony to draw your immediate attention to the deteriorating condition of the drainage system in our area. For the past three weeks, the residents have been facing severe hardships due to the complete blockage and overflow of the main sewage lines.
The current situation is alarming. Due to clogged drains, foul-smelling wastewater has begun spilling onto the main roads, making it nearly impossible for pedestrians to walk. This stagnant water has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other insects, leading to a sudden rise in dengue and malaria cases in our neighborhood. Furthermore, the stench is unbearable, especially for the elderly and young children who live in the vicinity.
To resolve this crisis, I would like to suggest the following measures:
-
Immediate Desilting: An emergency team should be deployed to clear the silt and plastic waste blocking the primary channels.
-
Structural Repair: The old, cracked concrete pipes need to be replaced with high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes to ensure a smoother flow and prevent future leakages.
-
Installation of Grates: Iron grates should be installed at all entry points to prevent solid waste from entering the underground system.
Yours faithfully,
Signature
