(iii) Full development takes about 280 ± 7 days (approximately 40 weeks).

(iv) The placenta enables the exchange of nutrients and oxygen from the mother to the developing foetus, and the removal of foetal wastes.

(v) The amniotic cavity contains amniotic fluid, which cushions and protects the foetus from shocks.
