Solution

The area of the square that can be inscribed in a circle of radius 8 cm is 128 cm2.

Explanation:

The circle’s diameter = 2 × 8 = 16 cm, which equals the square’s diagonal.

If side = s, diagonal = `ssqrt(2) = 16`

⇒ `s = 16/sqrt(2)`

= `8sqrt(2)`

Area = s2

= `(8sqrt(2))^2`

= 128 cm2
