In 1993, Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organisation signed the Oslo Peace Accords to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. However, they failed to establish a lasting peace due to the following reasons:

1. Lack of Trust between Parties: Negotiations between Israel and Palestine failed due to a lack of trust in each other’s intentions.
2. Settlement Expansion: Palestinians considered Israel’s continued settlement expansion in the West Bank and East Jerusalem as a violation of the Accords.
3. Violence and Terrorism: Violence, including suicide bombings by Palestinian groups and Israeli military crackdowns, has hampered the peace process.
4. Internal Divisions: Both sides face internal opposition. Right-wing forces in Israel opposed concessions to Palestinians, while Palestinian elements like Hamas completely rejected the accords.
5. Unresolved Core Issues: Unresolved issues, including Jerusalem’s status, Palestinian refugees’ right of return, and borders, have lead to ongoing conflict.
