Take an electric torch. Flash its light on a wall. Now make your friend stand in between the torch and the wall. What happens?

When my friend stands between the electric torch and the wall, a dark shadow of my friend is formed on the wall. This happens because the body is an opaque object and does not allow light from the torch to pass through it. The area behind the body therefore receives no light and forms a shadow.
