Solution
I studied different tribal dance forms such as Santhali (Jharkhand/West Bengal), Ghoomar (Rajasthan), Bihu (Assam), Gaur Maria (Chhattisgarh), and Cheraw (Mizoram). I learned at least five basic dance steps from these styles.
While performing the steps, I observed the following joint movements:
- Shoulder joints – moving the arms up, down, and sideways.
- Elbow joints – bending and straightening the arms.
- Hip joints – turning and swaying the body.
- Knee joints – bending while jumping, squatting, and stepping.
- Ankle joints – balancing, hopping, and changing direction.
- Neck joints – gentle turning and tilting with the rhythm.
Based on these observations, I developed a short dance performance that highlighted how different joints work together to create smooth and coordinated body movements. The performance demonstrated the importance of healthy joints in dance and everyday activities.
Presenting this dance at the school’s annual function helped students from different grades understand the role of joints while enjoying the beauty of India’s tribal dance traditions.
