Solution

Two Ways in Which the Cotton Industry in India Is Influenced by Climate Conditions:

  1. The cotton textile industry requires a humid climate because the thread does not break easily in such conditions. In dry climates, the thread frequently breaks, which negatively affects the efficiency of workers and the quality of the cloth. This is why most cotton textile mills are concentrated in regions with moist weather, such as Maharashtra and Gujarat, where the climate is humid and suitable for the industry. In dry areas, artificial humidifiers are used, but they increase the production cost.
  2. The climate also affects the location of the cotton textile industry. For example, Mumbai, located on the coast of the Arabian Sea, enjoys a moist climate which helps the development of the cotton textile industry since the humid climate prevents thread breakage. This coastal moist climate is very much suited to the cotton textile industry compared to dry climates where thread frequently breaks.
