State any two advantages of using petroleum as a source of power.

1. Petroleum is used as fuel. Its derivatives include ethane, diesel, petrol, jet fuel, kerosene and LPG. Due to its lubricating properties and compact size, petroleum is essential for transportation on land, sea and air.
2. Petroleum is used for power generation. In India, it is confined to the use in a few thermal stations, which are located close to oil wells and refineries and also in diesel and gas turbine stations.
