Solution
When zinc is added to a copper sulphate solution, a displacement reaction occurs. Because zinc is more reactive than copper, it displaces copper from solution, forming zinc sulphate and leaving solid copper behind.
\[\ce{Zn + CuSO4 -> ZnSO4 + Cu}\]
