x + y = 5 ...(1)
x − y = 3 ...(2)
Adding equations (1) and (2),
x + y = 5
x − y = 3
2x = 8
`∴ x = 8/2`
∴ x = 4
Substituting x = 4 in equation (1),
x + y = 5
∴ 4 + y = 5
∴ y = 5 − 4
∴ y = 1
∴ (x, y) = (4, 1)
