Solution

Villa for Sale is a social satire because it uses humour and irony to show the weaknesses of people. Gaston is clever and money-minded and sees an opportunity to make a profit. He buys the villa for 2,00,000 francs and sells it for 3,00,000 francs. Mrs. Al Smith is so eager to buy the villa that she does not think carefully about the price. Juliette is happy to sell the villa and does not know about Gaston’s profit. The play makes fun of people’s greed, impatience, selfishness and love for money. Thus, the play entertains us while also criticising human behaviour.
