LHS = `tan^-1  1/2 - tan^-1  1/4`

`= tan^-1 [(1/2 - 1/4)/(1 + (1/2)(1/4))]`

`= tan^-1 ((4 - 2)/(8 + 1))`

`= tan^-1 (2/9)` = RHS.
