Solution

Shakespeare based Julius Caesar on Roman history, but he changed some characters and situations to make the play more dramatic. He compressed historical events, altered timings and emphasized certain traits of Caesar, Brutus, Cassius and Antony.

He presents Caesar as powerful yet physically weak, Brutus as noble but idealistic, and Cassius as a clever schemer. He also uses storms, omens, dreams and supernatural signs to create suspense and suggest approaching tragedy.

Thus, Shakespeare combines historical facts with imagination to make the characters more striking and the plot more effective on stage.
