Solution

  1. Four cities connected by the North-South corridor are Srinagar, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Kanyakumari. The North-South Corridor connects Srinagar in the north to Kanyakumari in the south, consisting mainly of NH 44, covering about 4,000 km.
  2. Two reasons in support of the NHAI’s highway projects are:
    • They reduce travel time and distance between metropolitan cities, thereby improving connectivity.
    • They enable the industrial growth of smaller towns through which the highways pass and facilitate quick transport of agricultural produce from the hinterland to major cities and ports for export.
