Solution

Quadrilateral ABCD is circumscribed to a circle. If AB = 6 cm, BC = 7 cm and CD = 4 cm, then AD = 3 cm.

Explanation:

In a quadrilateral circumscribed about a circle (a tangential quadrilateral), the sums of the lengths of opposite sides are equal:

AB + CD = BC + AD

So AD = AB + CD – BC

= 6 + 4 – 7

= 3 cm
