Solution

Let the weight of Pranita = x kg,

Then, the weight of Pramod = x + 25 kg.

So, after dieting:

Pramod’s weight = (x + 25) − 20 = x + 5

Pranita’s weight = x − 15

According to the problem, their total weight after dieting is 140 kg.

(x + 5) + (x − 15) = 140

2x − 10 = 140

2x = 150

x = `150/2`

∴ x = 75

So,

Pranita’s weight = 75

Pramod’s weight = 75 + 25 = 100kg

Hence, Pranita’s original weight = 75 kg, and Pramod’s original weight = 100 kg
