The slope m1 of the line segment joining A(7, −3) and B(1, 9) is found using the slope formula:

Slope (m) = `(y_2 - y_1)/(x_2 - x_1)`

= `(9 - (-3))/(1 - 7)`

= `(9 + 3)/(1 - 7)`

= `12/(-6)`

= −2

Hence, the slope of AB is −2.
