Solution

1. Plot the point M

Point M is located at (4, –3). This means it is 4 units to the right of the origin along the X-axis and 3 units down from the origin along the Y-axis.

2. Draw perpendicular to X-axis (Point P)

To find the perpendicular from M(4, –3) to the X-axis, we move vertically from M until we hit the X-axis.

Since P lies on the X-axis, its y-coordinate must be 0.

Since the line MP is perpendicular to the X-axis, it is a vertical line, meaning the x-coordinate remains the same as point M.

Therefore, the coordinates of P are (4, 0).

3. Draw perpendicular to Y-axis (Point Q)

To find the perpendicular from M(4, –3) to the Y-axis, we move horizontally from M until we hit the Y-axis.

Since Q lies on the Y-axis, its x-coordinate must be 0.

Since the line MQ is perpendicular to the Y-axis, it is a horizontal line, meaning the y-coordinate remains the same as point M.

Therefore, the coordinates of Q are (0, –3).
