Solution

Given: (3, 2)

Step-wise calculation:

  1. Identify the abscissa and ordinate: x = 3 (abscissa), y = 2 (ordinate).
  2. Start at the origin O = (0, 0). Move 3 units to the right along the x-axis to reach (3, 0).
  3. From (3, 0) move 2 units up parallel to the y-axis to reach (3, 2). Mark that point P.

The point P(3, 2) is plotted three units to the right of the origin and two units above the x-axis (first quadrant).
