One night in Kashmir, the temperature is −5°C. Next day the temperature is 9°C. What is the increase in temperature?

Solution
Temperature in the first day = – 5°C
Temperature in the next day = 9°C
∴ Increase in temperature = 9°C – (– 5°C)
= 9°C + 5°C
= 14°C
