Solution

Minerals are unevenly distributed across India. Coal is mainly found in the eastern and central regions, such as Jharia, Raniganj, and Korba, as well as in Neyveli and Singareni. Iron ore is widely available in central, eastern, and southern India, including Bailadila and Mayurbhanj. Bauxite is mostly found in central and eastern areas, such as Katni and Koraput. Petroleum and natural gas are found along the western coast, including Mumbai High and Ankleshwar, and in the northeast, such as Digboi. This uneven distribution is mainly due to India’s diverse geological structure.

In Jharkhand, important minerals include coal, iron ore, bauxite, copper, mica, and uranium. Coal is especially abundant, with major coalfields in Jharia, Bokaro, and Dhanbad. Iron ore is mainly found in the Singhbhum region. These mineral resources are spread across different parts of the state and support various industries, making minerals an important part of Jharkhand’s economy.
