Honourable Chairperson, Respected judges and my dear friends. I am here today to argue against the idea that students are not served by the policy of no detention till class. Those who wish to profit from this notion by pressuring students to attend an increasing number of tuition classes may be the main culprits of all this propaganda. The truth is that education shouldn’t be bound by the examination trap, where students must constantly take tests to receive the “Pass” or “Fail” designation. Since we hear about such instances in the news every day, I would like to remind my good buddy that it is better to be careless than to use unfair methods to pass the tests. This is because one of my friends argued that a policy of no detention is making students irresponsible. Students are becoming mentally ill due to the stress of exams. I am afraid that the time needed to gain pure knowledge without the pressure of detention may be lost in the tension over exam failure. The ‘no detention policy’ encourages youngsters to attend school with enthusiasm and prepares them for maturity. Students who are confident and eager to succeed will benefit from a stress-free learning environment, leading to a healthy and bright future.
