  • Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (East India): He promoted devotion to Lord Krishna through chanting and sankirtan. He stressed divine love, devotion, and compassion.
  • Tukaram (West India): He was a devotee of Vithoba, a form of Krishna. Through his devotional poems, he criticised social inequality and unnecessary rituals.
  • Purandaradasa (South India): He composed devotional kirtanas dedicated to Krishna and used music to spread the message of devotion and righteous living. He is also regarded as an important figure in the development of Carnatic music.
