Solution

In the Tundra the chief means of getting around combine traditional, seasonal and modern methods, locally people have long relied on animal‑powered sledges, especially reindeer (and historically dog sleds), skis and travelling on foot for short journeys, with boats or canoes used where rivers and coasts are ice‑free in the brief summer; these traditional practices (reindeer pulling sledges on ice, nomadic movement and reliance on hunting/fishing) are well documented. Today, many remote tundra communities are also connected by seasonal ice‑ or winter roads and by mechanized vehicles suited to soft or frozen ground (snowmobiles and tracked/all‑terrain vehicles) and by small aircraft or helicopters that provide year‑round links to larger towns.
