Copper releasing IUDs & hormone releasing IUDs are two types of IUDs.
(1) Copper releasing IUDs increase phagocytosis of sperms within the uterus and the Cu ions released suppress sperm motility and the fertilising capacity of sperms.
(2) The hormone releasing IUDs addition, make the uterus unsuitable forimplantation and the cervix hostile to the sperms.
