Solution
Shareware is software that is made accessible with the permission to distribute copies; however, a license price must be paid if one plans to use the program, frequently after a certain period of time.
For two primary reasons, shareware differs from free and open source software (FOSS): (i) the source code is not accessible, and (ii) program modifications are prohibited.
Open source software, or OSS, is software whose source code is accessible to users and can be changed and shared without restrictions. An OSS can be obtained for free or with the payment of small fees that its creators may charge for software development and support.
