Solution
Given:
Company A: 200 shares, Face Value = Rs. 100, Premium = Rs. 25
Company B: 500 shares, Face Value = Rs. 100, Market Value = Rs. 200
Company C: 50 shares, Face Value = Rs. 100, Discount = Rs. 20
Step-wise calculation:
1. Company A:
MV = FV + Premium
= 100 + 25
= Rs. 125
Investment = 200 × 125
= Rs. 25,000
2. Company B:
MV given = Rs. 200
Investment = 500 × 200
= Rs. 1,00,000
3. Company C:
MV = FV – Discount
= 100 – 20
= Rs. 80
Investment = 50 × 80
= Rs. 4,000
Total investment = 25,000 + 1,00,000 + 4,000
= Rs. 1,29,000
Mr. Hariram’s total investment in shares = Rs. 1,29,000.
