Solution

Tides are the periodic rise and fall of sea levels caused by the gravitational pull of the moon and the sun on Earth's oceans. When the tide is low, the water level drops significantly, exposing more of the seabed and making boats appear as if they are sunk or sitting much lower than usual. The gangways becoming almost vertical is also a classic sign of a low tide, as the water recedes from the dock level.

In geographical terms, tides are a regular and predictable phenomenon and are an essential part of the hydrosphere studied in geography.
