Question
\[\ce{MnO2 + 4HCl -> MnCl2 + 2H2O + Cl2}\]
0.02 moles of pure MnO2 is heated strongly with conc. HCl. Calculate the mass of salt formed.

Solution
Mass of Mn = 54.93
Mass of Cl = 35.45
Cl2 = 35.45 × 2 = 70.9
∴ 1 mole MnCl2 weighs = 54.93 + 70.9
= 125.83 g ≈ 126 g
So, 0.02 mole MnCl2 will weigh = `126/1` × 0.02 g
= 2.52 g
