Mention some of the important properties of the terylene.

1. Terylene (polyester) has high tensile strength and good elasticity; the fibers are strong and keep their shape.
2. It shows excellent abrasion and crease resistance.
3. It absorbs very little moisture, so it dries quickly.
4. It resists many organic solvents and chemicals but can hydrolyze with strong acids or alkalis at high temperatures.
5. It has good thermal stability with a melting point of around 250-260°C.
6. It is easy to dye, dimensionally stable, and recyclable.
